How to Plan Your Wedding Around Your Honeymoon Cruise

If you want to get married on a cruise but want to be alone for your honeymoon, consider this option.

Instructions

STEP 1: Select a honeymoon cruise. STEP 2: Be sure it leaves from a port that is easily accessible for family and friends. STEP 3: Arrange to use the ship for your wedding the day before it sails. STEP 4: Give plenty of notice to your guests so they can book their reservations. STEP 5: Arrange to have everyone fly in a day before the wedding so your plans aren't ruined by travel delays. STEP 6: Check with major airlines to find out whether they will give you a discounted rate if all guests book with them. STEP 7: Work with the ship's wedding coordinator to arrange all of the details. STEP 8: Apply for your marriage license in the state in which you will be married. STEP 9: Reserve a block of rooms at a nearby hotel for your guests. STEP 10: Spend time with family and friends after the wedding and before you leave for your cruise. STEP 11: Ask them to see you off on your trip. STEP 12: Provide champagne for a toast before you go.

Tips & Warnings

--Shop around to compare your options. There are a number of cruise lines out there.
--Consider chartering a local boat for a few hours to hold your wedding if you can't afford a cruise.
--Remember that if your wedding is during prime travel season, guests may have trouble getting flights.
--If there are any major ports near where you live, consider leaving from there to make it easier for guests.
