A Higher Power

Well here goes . This is a story about a higher power and how things work out in the weirdest way. My Friend Traci and I both teach dance to young children on the weekends . I was pregnant first and had boy, she followed 3 months later and also had a boy. Being that we both had boys we vowed to keep them busy together with outings to the Zoo amongst other things. When Traci"s son was 1 1/2 his father tried to kill her the very night we returned from the Circus with boys. She didn't want to go home and face him although not showing up would have been worse. So she decided to go home without her son (fearing his life) to save face . Luckily a higher power kept Traci alive and she made it to the next day. With the help of a good friend Kevin, she was able to severe ties with this man to never see him again. Kevin stepped in as a father to her son . A year later in May '05 Kevin proposed, Traci happily accepted . They were to be married May '06. During all this time I also separated from my sons father for about 2 years time. It just didn't work out. The Christmas before Traci's Wedding it was my turn to go through what Traci went through before me . Luckily for me it wasn't as drastic but still bad. After New Years My son's father turned over a new leaf and we decided to date .... very slowly. As things began to get cordial between us we decided to discuss him being my date for Traci's Wedding!! The Wedding was May 27,2006 . Due the absence of family members my son's father ended up being an usher in Traci's Wedding. After the rehearsal the pastor asked John (my son's father) if we were married because we were so well with each other . He replied No and the Pastor gave John his card. I thought it was a joke til John showed me the card!! So we get to the reception and it's time for the Bouquet to be thrown. My mother and Traci's mother were scheming on how they could get me to catch it. So the announcement is made "All single ladies on the floor" and they both gave me the tough mother eye look " you better get your fanny up and over there" . I went.... but there was chaos because the kids were up there too. They removed the kids, all the ladies are getting ready ( like they are playing double dutch), they start the count down and what happens next ... I almost got hit in the eye by an elbow from a woman (6 ft, I'm omly 5 ft) on count NO.1, I moved back and out of they way on count No.2, Then I look at my feet on count No.3 and there it was. At my feet was a bouquet of white Lilies used by Traci in her wedding. The room went wild with passion, love and excitement. The first thing I remember is looking for John and when I saw him the Pastor had ran over to him to shake his hand. Some how through all of this it was meant for us to be with the significant other that we are with now. Amazing how things work with out effort . Oh! that's a higher power ........ P.S. The woman that almost elbowed me in the eye actually takes class at my second job!!! She stop me in the hall a month later and said you took my bouquet from me and walked away!
