Alison is an accomplished professional harpist who plays the harp for both grand and intimate celebrations. She has played at weddings, cocktail parties, anniversaries, birthdays, bar/bat mitzvahs, corporate parties and private events throughout Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties.

Playing in private homes and banquet halls for individuals and corporations, Alison adds elegance and beauty to every occasion. The harp can fill a garden or reception hall with melody, and gently underscore a quiet ceremony.

Alison plays both a full-size "pedal" harp and also a smaller "levered" harp. Both instruments have an excellent sound quality and one will surely suit the needs of your venue and audience.

Harp music is a cost-effective choice because, unlike many other instruments, the harp can stand alone. Because of its magnificent range, the harp does not require any orchestral accompaniment, and because it is compact in size, the harp will relieve the busy host of the pressures

of space and planning. However, the addition of flute, violin, cello or any other combination is available upon request.

In addition to being a harpist, Alison has her Masters Degree in social work (MSW) and is also a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) with an in-depth knowledge of music’s healing qualities. As a music therapist, Alison has been trained to give something beyond a pleasant performance. Her therapeutic music creates a comforting environment and fosters feelings of tranquility and peace.

Alison Renee Restak has been a performing harpist throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe counties for the past eight years. She has played for countless special events including weddings, receptions, parties, corporate functions and more. Alison has performed with orchestras and chamber music ensembles in Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties and in addition, she played with the University of Miami symphony orchestra, opera and wind ensemble for two years while studying Music Therapy.

Alison studied harp in her hometown of Washington DC for eight years and then she completed her Bachelor’s Degree at Roanoke College in Virginia where she studied with harpist, Song-Hee Uhm. She went on to pursue a certification in Music Therapy at the University of Miami where she studied harp under Valerie VonPechy-Whitcup, principal harpist with the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra and the Florida Grand Opera.

As a music therapist, Alison utilizes music as a key element within the therapeutic environment to create an atmosphere for healing and to facilitate positive change. Alison has implemented diverse music therapy techniques with varied client populations including adults and children with developmental disabilities (Autism, mental retardation), elderly clients experiencing dementia and/ or traumatic brain injury, and clients with psychiatric disabilities. Alison recently proposed, developed and implemented a music therapy program within a psychiatric facility and she is presently expanding her practice to serve elderly clients in the nursing home/ hospice environment.
