Robin Williams Dead Of Apparent Suicide
Beloved TV and movie actor Robin Williams is dead of an apparent suicide.
The Marin County Sheriff's Office issued a release Monday saying Williams was found inside his home in Tiburon, California Monday after a 911 call. An investigation into the cause of death is underway, although Williams' longtime publicist is suggesting the actor may have taken his own life.
Authorities suspect Williams died of suicide due to asphyxia. The 63-year-old actor was discovered unresponsive at his home in Tiburon, California at about noon local time Monday.
Williams' wife Susan Schneider released a statement Monday, saying "This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken."
She added, "As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin's death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions." Williams' publicist Max Buxbaum said the actor had been battling severe depression of late.
Williams recently checked into a renewal center to re-address his sobriety issues. A four-time Oscar nominee, Williams won a supporting actor Oscar in 1998 for Good Will Hunting. He most recently starred in the CBS sitcom "The Crazy Ones," which lasted just one season.
Williams shot to fame in the late 1970s playing alien Mork on the TV sitcom "Mork & Mindy." His numerous film credits include Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, Mrs. Doubtfire, Good Will Hunting, Patch Adams and last year's The Butler.
The beloved comedian's final Instagram post was a touching photo of him and his daughter, Zelda Rae Williams, from when they were younger in honor of her 25th birthday.
