"How I Met Your Mother" Comes To An End Tonight

The "legen -- wait for it -- dary" tale of one man's search for the love of his life is about to come to an end on the series finale of "How I Met Your Mother." The hit CBS comedy wraps its ninth season tonight with a one-hour episode that will finally detail the first meeting between Ted -- played by Josh Radnor -- and the title "mother" -- played by Cristin Milioti.

The show started with Future Ted, voiced Bob Saget, telling the story to his two kids in the year 2030. Along the way he's also shared some of the stories of his friends, played by co-stars Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris, Alyson Hannigan and Jason Segel. Hannigan tells "USA Today" it was hard to say goodbye to this tight nit group, but she feels they're ending on a high note. Carter Bays, who created the show along with Craig Thomas, says the final episode says everything they've wanted to say about "showing the complete picture of what it means to fall in love." The "How I Met Your Mother" finale starts at 8:00 p.m. Eastern on CBS.

Meanwhile, Bays and Thomas are already working on another meeting. They're prepping a similar series for CBS dubbed "How I Met Your Dad" that will star Greta Gerwig.
