WATCH: Parent's 'Snow Day' musical shows realistic side of having your kids home from school

Parents Penn and Lynn Holderness and their children Penn and Lola in Raleigh, North Carolina, star in "Snow Day: The Musical." The video chronicles a typical day in which the kids are home because there is no school due to inclement weather. The singing family decided to produce this video on Wednesday, when schools in Raleigh were closed.

The song's story begins at 6 a.m., when father Penn wakes up with a sigh and feels "like Bob Costas's left eye." He superimposes the sportscaster's head on his for the full effect. By now, the kids are already awake and well aware that the white stuff is falling from the sky.

By 7 a.m. the family is outside sledding, and at 10 a.m. young Penn is well, creating yellow snow outdoors. Apparently he is wearing too many layers and "going inside would spoil [the fun we're having]."
