The Ring Was In The Grass

The story you are about to read is a true MIRACLE and will make your heart flutter. To this day I can hardly believe it. From the first day Charles & I met I knew we were meant to be. After all, we were Charles & Diana, what a perfect match? Not only did our personalities mesh well, but we also had a fantastic spiritual connection. Our strong faith prepared us for our happiness & the trials & tribulations that life brought our way. While we dated initially, Charles a young enlisted Marine for the USA, was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. I lived in Colleyville, Texas (a suburb of Dallas/Ft. Worth). We would trade off weekends to drive to see each other. We were inseparable, although we lived in two somewhat distant cities we always made the trip to see one another. Then about a year into our relationship, Charles was sent to South Africa where he was to complete his Marine contract. I was absolutely devastated!!!!! What seemed like a long drive to Oklahoma was put into perspective. South Africa was not nearly as close & I was not able to just hop in the car to see him. Our strong faith & love for each held our relationship together. It was tough, but we held on for we knew that one day we would reunite. I was fortunate enough to travel to visit him one time while he was in South Africa & he came on a few occasions to visit myself & his family. Finally, the day came when Charles came home! The waiting, trust, faithfulness, love and adoration had paid off. This is where is gets interesting. About six months after being home, Charles asked my parents for my hand in marriage. My mother provided the family heirloom diamond ring. Unbenonced to me, he carried the engagement ring for a few months looking for the perfect opportunity to propose. On, Saturday, August 19, 2006 Charles & I went to the Dave Matthews Band concert at Smirnoff Center in Dallas, TX. We sat in the lawn section and watched DMB perform. One of Charles’ friends told him to bring the ring to the concert & propose when Dave sings the popular song “Crash”. Of course, I knew about none of this. Charles placed the ring in his pocket free of a box for fear that I would notice. When we arrived home after the concert, he looked at me with a panic stricken face. He said “Honey, we have a problem. I brought the ring to the concert because I planned to propose, then I realized it was not a good time & now the ring is not in my pocket.” I freaked out & began driving back to the venue. When we arrived, I thought how on earth are we going to find a diamond ring in a large lawn area. Someone could have seen it and snatched it, the trash crew could have seen it, the metal detectors could have found it. We got on our knees, prayed & began to sift through the grass for a sign of the family heirloom. No luck! We didn’t find the ring and went home empty handed & disappointed. On Sunday we went back to Smirnoff to camp out and see if any sign of life was on the premises to let us go back in and search. Once again, No luck! We didn’t find the ring and went home empty handed & disappointed. On Monday, I had to go to work & Charles was off for school break. Early that morning he called the venue and left about 5 messages. Feeling hopeless and saddened at what had transpired, he felt that there was no way he was going to give up on finding the ring. He strongly kept pursuing the search. Finally at about 11 am Monday morning the director of Smirnoff returned his call. She stated that lots of people lose valuable items & he probably wouldn’t find it, especially since the lawn mowers had already devoured the lawn area early that morning. Determined, Charles hopped in his car with our metal detector (who on earth keeps a metal detector laying around, strangely enough we do). When he arrived he walked up to the grass section that we had viewed the show from & 5 minutes after searching a gleaming twinkle caught his eye. HE FOUND THE RING in the grass, untouched. He ran to the director glad with joy in his heart & the woman said “WOW, you are lucky! In my 15 years of working here only one other man has found a valuable ring, but it took in 7 hours of searching!” He called me immediately to share the news, he came to my office & told me to keep the ring in a safe place until he could bring me to dinner that night. On the evening of Monday, August 21, 2006, Charles brought me to Steel restaurant, the place we shared our very first date. Our dinner arrived and before we ate, he got down on one knee and said “this restaurant is where we had our first meal as boyfriend & girlfriend, I want this next meal tonight to be as an engaged couple & in one year I want to come back to this restaurant and have a meal as a married couple.” Without blinking an eye, I SAID YES! We are engaged to be married on March 03, 2007! This story is a true MIRACLE! Our faith & love is stronger than ever. The proof is in OUR HEARTS! I hope you enjoyed our story & we would love for you to share our excitement and wonder with everyone. We loving bringing joy to everyone!
